The 2022 NFL season is approaching, and The Playmaker is here to give you his Top 5 rankings for each position. Today is Top 5 rankings for wide receivers.
5. Deebo Samuels, San Francisco 49ers
To kick off this list, number five is arguably the most dynamic receiver in the league and the best player on the San Francisco 49ers. Talking Deebo Samuels. Samuels has been the Army Swiss Knife for the Niners which led them to the NFC Championship Game before losing to division rival Rams. It doesn't matter if he is at WR or in the backfield as an RB, Samuels gives defenses problems. As a WR Samuels had 77 catches for 1,405 yards, and six touchdowns. In the ground game, Samuels had 59 carries for 365 yards and eight touchdowns. Now currently, it's unclear if Samuels will report back to the 49ers after requesting for a trade during the offseason, but he is currently list on the Niners' roster. If Samuels does return to the Niners for the season, the Niners will be a problem.
4. Ja' Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals
Number four on the list, took the league by storm with his big explosive play ability that help lead a magical season for the Cincinnati Bengals. The 2021 Offensive Rookie of the Year, Ja' Marr Chase. Coming out of LSU and reuniting with QB Joe Burrow, Chase showed why he was the fifth overall pick. His speed mixed with amazing catch radius; Chase burned secondaries constantly in 2021. 81 catches, 1,455 yards, and 13 touchdowns, Chase helped the Bengals reach the Super Bowl. Now going into 2022, defenses will look to slow down Chase in his second year.
3. Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers/Las Vegas Raiders
Number three on the list has found a new home after having another spectacular season in Green Bay in Davante Adams. As the number one guy for Mr. MVP, Aaron Rodgers, Adams has been considered the best receiver in the NFL for quite some now and in 2021 he continued to show why. 123 catches for 1,553 yards, and 11 touchdowns, Adams could not be stopped. Adams was Rodgers's go-to man in Green Bay, but he has a new home out in Vegas with the Las Vegas Raiders. It will be interesting to see how Adams will look with reuniting with his college QB Derek Carr.
2. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings
Well, we have one LSU WR on this list, why not have another? Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. Drafted the year before Ja' Marr Chase, but just more impactful than Chase in 2021. Jefferson took the league by storm his rookie year in 2020 but raised the production even more his second year in the Twin City. 108 catches for 1,616 yards with ten touchdowns. Jefferson is another big explosive play receiver that defenses cannot stop. With a new head coach in Minnesota, expect Jefferson to have another explosive season.
1. Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams
Well, there should be any question who is number one on this list. A Triple-Crown receiver, Offensive Player of the Year, Super Bowl Champion, and Super Bowl MVP in Los Angeles. The man is Cooper Kupp of the Rams. No one had a year like Cooper Kupp. The first Triple-Crown receiver since 2005 when Steve Smith Sr. did in Carolina. Kupp had 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, all league leading stats. The Super Bowl MVP is poised to have another phenomenal season in 2022 along with Matthew Stafford and the addition of Allen Robinson from Chicago.
