Cesaro Has Left WWE

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

It appears that Cesaro has left World Wrestling Entertainment. After a ten-year stint with the company, the Swiss Superman reportedly departed the company after he and WWE failed to agree on a new contract according to PWInsider. This is shocking news as nobody suspected that Cesaro was on his way out of the company.

Cesaro is a former United States Champion, as well as a multi-time tag team champion. He is also the first-ever winner of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It's unclear where Cesaro goes from here, however, it's confirmed that there will NOT be a 90-day no-compete clause for him. That means, he's free to sign with any promotion effective IMMEDIATELY.

Cesaro is no doubt possibly the most underrated pro wrestler in WWE history alongside the late Owen Hart. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter even labeled Cesaro as the most underrated wrestler from 2013 to 2016. Numerous wrestlers have praised Cesaro for his brilliant in-ring work. In addition, legends such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Jim Ross, and Ric Flair have praised Cesaro. Foley had advocated for WWE to give Cesaro a push. Over the years, many wrestling fans have expressed their disappointment in WWE for their treatment and use of Cesaro.

WWE never had plans to give Cesaro a main event push, which is sad, because NOT only did Cesaro deserve it, but it would have worked out well had it been done right. No doubt, WWE will be heavily criticized for not taking a chance on Cesaro for the main event run. It's strongly suggested that Cesaro never received a push was because his promo skills were not at the required level. As painful as it is to say, it is true. Cesaro's skills on the mic have never really been very good. Maybe having an on-screen manager would have helped. Cesaro was a Paul Heyman guy for a little while back in 2014, but it didn't work out. Flair at one point expressed his desire to be Cesaro's manager. Who knows how it would have gone?

Now that Cesaro is free, there are definitely opportunities out there for him. He can certainly work in Japan and perhaps return to the Ring of Honor when it resumes operations in April. Of course, everyone's flirting with the idea of him going to All Elite Wrestling. He can take bookings on the independent circuit. The Swiss Superman has a lot more to give to the pro wrestling community.
