Chris Paul's Promised Land: Has he found it in Golden State?

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

Chris Paul has been around for a very long time. About 19 years to be precise. And he's done a lot for both the NBA, his country, and the sport of basketball. He's solidified himself as a future NBA Hall of Famer.

Paul, 38, is headed to Golden State. He was originally sent to the Washington Wizards as part of a package the Suns sent to acquire Bradley Beal. The Wizards have been on a roll as of late. Aside from sending Beal to Phoenix, they also sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics as part of a three-way trade that sent Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Last season, Paul surpassed Michael Jordan for third on the NBA all-time list for career steals. Paul's not far from surpassing Jason Kidd. Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star and former NBA All-Star MVP (2013). In addition, Paul is a five-time NBA assists leader and six-time NBA steals leader. Furthermore, he's a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, helping the USA win it all in 2008 and 2012.

It's obvious that despite the injury plagued years lately, Paul's had quite an illustrious career. A few years ago, he came close to winning the NBA championship for the first time, but failed. Perhaps a stint with Steph Curry & company gives him one more chance to finally reaching the top of the mountain.

Golden State gave up Jordan Poole to acquire Paul. Clearly, Golden State took a risk and they're looking to make the most of this investment. Obviously, Paul's health is the main concern and he's unlikely to be used as a key starter. Even as a back-up/reserve player, Paul can still make an impact.

Many are convinced that the Warriors dynasty is over. The Warriors are hoping to win at least one more before closing out the Curry era.
