SEC Preview with The Playmaker and Cole Johnson's Top Picks

The Southeastern Conference was next on the Bearing Down the Gridiron season preview tour. The Georgia Bulldogs won the SEC in 2024. The Texas Longhorns finished second in the SEC and made it to the National Semifinals before losing to Ohio State. The Longhorns were impressive in their inaugural season in the SEC.

The Florida Gators finished the season arguably the strongest outside of Texas. The Gators won their last four games to finish the season 8-5. Now there is hype surrounding Gainesville, Florda as Billy Napier's Gators were picked sixth in the SEC Media Polls.

Cole Johnson's Pick

As for the Bearing Down the Gridiron crew, Cole Johnson stayed chalk with the SEC by picking the Georgia Bulldogs to continue to run the South. "Until I see a team beat Georgia, I have to pick Georgia." Despite being a Texas Longhorns fan, Cole doesn't believe that his Longhorns can beat Georgia on any surface. "Until Texas shows me that they can win a big game, I can't pick them to run the SEC."

The Playmaker's Pick

The Playmaker, on the other hand, is picking the Texas Longhorns to win the SEC. The Playmaker was impressed with how Texas played in their first season as a SEC school. The Playmaker liked how Texas played Georgia much better in the SEC Championship than the game in Austin, Texas during the regular season. The Playmaker feels that this is the year for someone the SEC to catch Georgia and snatch the rings from the Bulldogs.
