Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 won't happen. And I do NOT like this. Millions around the world aren't happy about it either. It appears that it's going to be The Rock taking on Roman Reigns in Philadelphia in a few months. Wrestling fans are not taking it kindly and if it's the People's Champ dethrones the Tribal Chief...well shit.
WWE is dealing with a lot right now. From drama regarding the serious legal action involving Vince McMahon to CM Punk's injury and its impact on WrestleMania and the program. The company can't afford any major screwups. But oops, it appears to be too late. Cody vs Roman II is not happening in Philly, and it's been changed to a dude in his early 50s who is challenging for the undisputed title. OUT OF THE FREAKING BLUE! That's a bad move. And there are even reports that The Rock pushed for this? BACKSTAGE POLITICS alert...
The video above has over 3 million views and less than 100,000 likes...another red flag! SO SOON!? Oh, and earlier, #WEWANTCODY was the #1 trend on X (Twitter).
Look, I love Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. All he's done in pro wrestling, in the movie industry, charity, etc, I love it and appreciate it. To this day, I still go on YouTube and watch his electrifying promos from the Attitude Era, as well as his matches on the network. But I don't want to see this. I have my reasons, but one thing to keep in mind; NEVER PUT THE BELT ON PART-TIMERS! Johnson has a major position with the company now, but still, this shouldn't be happening.
The Rock is obviously a draw, but you put the belt on a 51-year-old, and then what? How long does he hold it for? Who does he drop it to next? Many unanswered questions.
Cody won the Royal Rumble. He should be doing this match. This is what the fans want. WWE needs to give the fans WHAT THE HELL THEY WANT! THAT SIMPLE!
