The USWNT wins the gold!

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

For the first time since 2012, the USWNT has won OLYMPIC GOLD! After their disastrous World title defense in the Women's World Cup last summer, the USWNT has achieved some redemption. In their quest to capture the gold, the USWNT has shown tremendous progress for the foreseeable future. In other words, the team looks outstanding and they have the potential of only GETTING BETTER!

Props to Brazil. There's no shame in finishing second and securing the silver medal. Brazil did their best, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Nothing can be taken from Marta & Brazil. The Brazilians deserve respect as much as the Americans do in this situation. It was a hard-fought match.

The USWNT excelled so well in the knockouts. Eliminating Japan in the quarterfinals and Germany in the semifinals brought some World Cup vibes. The moments the USWNT has had with the likes of Japan and Germany in the Women's World Cup...GOOD MEMORIES! Interestingly enough, the USWNT would win both knockout games in extra time. The team has the focus and the resiliency to win big. That focus and resiliency was the key to victory against Brazil.

Emma Hayes is off to a fantastic start as the team's manager. After the USWNT was embarrassed in last year's World Cup, it was time to make a serious change regarding the managerial position. Hayes arrived and wasted no time getting to work. Everyone was surprised when Alex Morgan was not selected to represent the US in the Olympics this year. Hayes made decisions for the benefit of the current golden generation. Hayes knew the squad needed players mainly with a future, not a past. Morgan was NOT part of the plan for utilizing veterans to groom the younger talents.

The USWNT looks to be in good shape right now. Therefore, the next order of business is winning the next FIFA Women's World Cup.
