Bearing Down the Gridiron is back for Season 2 with a different look as Darnell "The Playmaker" Sallins goes solo. To get Season 22 started, The Playmaker previews the Atlantic Coast Conference.


The ACC has made some changes to the league despite not adding nor losing any team to expansion. One of those changes is there are no more divisions. The Atlantic Division and Coastal Division are history as this upcoming season approaches.

  • Last Atlantic Division Champion: Clemson Tigers

  • Last Coastal Division Champion: North Carolina Tar Heels

So, if there is any trivia question about the last division champions, there are your answers.


Now the other big change to the ACC is the football scheduling. With the divisions officially gone, the ACC is going to a 3-5-5 structure. This simply means that each school will play 3 primary opponents every year and the other 10 teams will be in rotation of 5's in 4 season rotations.


Nevertheless, Clemson continues to run the ACC. Winning 7 of the 8 ACC Championships.
