This year, on Christmas Day, the Dallas Mavericks will take on the Los Angeles Lakers. It'll be a rematch of their previous Christmas Day encounter during the 2020-21 NBA season, in which the Lakers were the defending NBA Champions. Los Angeles would defeat Dallas 138 to 115.
Last year, both the Lakers and Mavericks played on Christmas Day but lost their matches respectively. Los Angeles lost 122-115 to the Brooklyn Nets while Dallas fell 120-116 to the Utah Jazz. The Mavericks have a 2-3 record on Christmas Day while the Lakers are 24-24.
Dallas has not won on Christmas Day since their 102-94 win over Portland in the 2008-09 season. Since then, they're 0-3. No doubt, the Mavericks would love nothing more than to defeat LeBron James & Company and have a Merry Christmas. On December 25th, 2022, the Mavericks will host the Lakers at the American Airlines Center.
The Dallas Mavericks are coming off a fantastic playoff run last season. Luka Doncic & Company silenced the critics by getting past the Utah Jazz in the first round and then the Phoenix Suns in the next. They'd eventually fall to the Golden State Warriors in five games in the Western Conference Finals.
The Mavericks are hoping to build and continue to improve in hopes of returning to NBA title contention and to win the title again in hopes of winning several more, thus starting a dynasty.
